OLLYWOOD – In a stunning performance that could rival her role in "Wonder Woman," Israeli actress Gal Gadot took to the stage at a solidarity conference for Israel to decry the world's calls for humanitarian aid and a cease-fire with Hamas. All this, while the backdrop of Gaza's devastation – with nearly 8,500 dead, including around 3,500 children – loomed like the most inconvenient of truths.

As the lights dimmed and the spotlight hit Gadot, she dramatically questioned, "I'm asking myself what happened to humanity? How could that be?" A question that seemed almost self-aware, given the circumstances.

Gadot's plea for empathy and action for the 224 Israeli hostages in Gaza came as if the tragic loss of thousands of lives, many of them children, in the very same conflict was merely a subplot in this tragic tale. "I'm all for peace, don't get me wrong," Gadot reassured us, though it was unclear which version of peace she was referring to.

Adding to the Hollywood spectacle, Israel's Consul General in Los Angeles, Israel Bachar, took the stage to sing the praises of female IDF soldiers, while Israeli actress Noa Tishby presumably checked her IMDb rating.

The conference might have felt like the Oscars had it not been for the open letter sent to President Biden by hundreds of actors, comedians, and industry leaders, calling for the release of Israeli hostages. A letter that somehow omitted mention of the heartbreaking toll the conflict has taken on Gaza and its children.

As the curtains closed on this latest act of Hollywood's take on international crises, one can't help but wonder if the industry's famed "show must go on" motto might need a bit of a rewrite.
